Big Brothers Big Sisters hosts 31st annual Bowl for Kids' Sake

EUREKA, CA (January 30, 2014) - Big Brothers Big Sisters of the North Coast (BBBSNC) is inviting individuals, businesses, and community organizations to form bowling teams and raise money to help local children who are facing adversity. Year after year, the North Coast community comes together to support this fun event by forming a team, making a donation, or becoming a corporate sponsor. Funds raised during Bowl for Kids' Sake make up over half of BBBSNC's annual budget. The event is one of the most successful annual fundraisers in Humboldt County.

This year's Bowl for Kids' Sake event is entitled "Under the Sea." BBBSNC will host a fun sea-themed celebration of fundraising complete with costumes, music, door prizes, and bowling, on March 7-8, 2014, in Eureka, CA. "Many people think that Bowl for Kids' Sake is all about bowling, but that simply isn't true," says Christine Miller, Executive Director of BBBSNC. "The event is really about raising money to provide more Humboldt County children with a caring, consistent role model who can provide support when they need it most. The bowling and festivities serve as a celebration of all the fundraisers' hard work." Bowlers are rewarded for their fundraising through various prizes, ranging from event t-shirts to a $500 travel voucher. Prizes are also awarded for exceptional enthusiasm and best costume.

BBBSNC's mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. The organization has been providing quality mentoring services to Humboldt County children in need since 1969. Every dollar raised goes towards recruiting, screening, and training volunteer mentors for local children.

Those interested in forming a fundraising team may contact Blue West, Bowl for Kids' Sake Event Coordinator, at 707-445-4871 or bfks at ncbbbs.org.
