TRINITY TRUST SUMMER YOUTH GRANTS SUPPORT FUN ACTIVITIES AND EDUCATION
TRINITY COUNTY, CA (JAN 28, 2014) ­­­­- The Trinity Trust, a program of Humboldt Area Foundation, is now accepting applications for the 2014 Summer Youth Mini-Grant Program to support the collaborations of dedicated coaches, recreation leaders, volunteers, youth staff and instructors that make youth summer opportunities fun, enriching, healthy and engaging in Trinity County.

The Trinity Trust Summer Youth Mini-Grant Program is funded through the Gates Family Endowment Fund and the Daniel Holthaus Memorial Fund. Last year's Summer Youth Mini-Grant awards totaled $9,975.  Twenty-five summer youth programs ranging from soccer and swimming to gold panning, river and fire safety programs, fish derbies, backpacking, outdoor adventure, reading, art, theatre and music instruction received grants through the Trinity Trust. The average grant awarded is $400.00 for organizations serving children and youth through programs offered from June 1 to September 1, 2014.

A committee of community volunteers will consider each application and prioritize programs which:
l   Serve a high number of low-income, disabled, at-risk or otherwise disadvantaged youth
l   Serve youth in an outlying area with few summer activities
l   Operate every weekday during the entire summer
l   Provide a large number of scholarships to their Summer Program
l   Provide activities free of charge
l   Collaborate and utilize available resources
l   Provide developmental and not just recreational opportunities
l   Request items to help ensure the safety of program participants

Trinity Trust Summer Youth Grant Applications can be found online at http://www.trinity-trust.org. Applications should be mailed to The Trinity Trust c/o Humboldt Area Foundation at 363 Indianola Road, Bayside, CA 95524.  All applications must be postmarked or delivered by April 1, 2014. Awards will be announced by May 2014.
