Things Are Changing

You may have noticed a few changes with HumGuide recently. We have been been spending a great deal of time re-working how the site is managed. At the same time we have re-worked the navigation scheme (how you move around to the various resources on the site), tightened up the layout (the arrangement of things on the page), spruced up the design a bit (increased font size, made other things easier to read) and cleaned up the way some things function.

New Login Features

You may have noticed that you can login right on the home page. In addition, if you check the box that says 'Remember me' before you click the login button, you will remain logged in whenever you return to the site using the same browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Safari, etc.). You can always logout again at any time if you are concerned about security.

If you have never joined HumGuide, or if you wish to create a new membership, that procedure has changed slightly as well. You are now required to use a valid email address when joining. That email address will receive a confirmation email message with directions on how to complete the registration process. This feature has been developed to prevent someone signing up another person without their knowledge. In addition, many current and future features of the site will not work for you if your email address in incorrect.Rest assured your privacy will not be violated, you will never receive spam from us and we will not share your information with any other individual or organization.

Coming Soon

In the near future we will be installing many new features that we are excited about and we believe will help make HumGuide more useful and fun. Among these new features will be:
  • A new version of the popular HumGuide Poll which will require that you be logged in to vote. This will help prevent people from voting more than once on any poll. We won't track how you voted, just that you did. Update: The new poll is in place!
  • A revamped discussion forum that will be easier to use and have many new tools.
  • The ability to sign up for an email newsletter that will alert you to newly added web sites, new features on HumGuide, and even local news items and features.
  • The ability to subscribe to all or selected classifieds categories so you can be alerted when new ads are posted.
  • The ability to create a 'Personal HumGuide': a listing of favorite web sites and categories that appears on the home page when you are logged in.
So, stay tuned! If you have questions or comments about these changes, please feel free to contact us!
